Rusizi 17/01/2017: The Office of the Ombudsman has launched today a five day anti injustice campaign in Rusizi District. The campaign aims at solving injustice complaints and raising awareness on the functioning of the Office of the Ombudsman and the consequences of corruption and injustice.
In a meeting held before meeting Rusizi residents Deputy Ombudsman Kanzayire Bernadette commends the achievements of the District and the outstanding activities of Rusizi cyber café which is managed by youth volunteers in advising, receiving complaints and submit them to the Office of the Ombudsman.
Launching the anti injustice campaign in Kamembe Sector, the Deputy Ombudsman reminded Rusizi residents that is their responsibility to report any corruption incidents or the misbehavior of a leader.
“ That time of a leader collecting government funds and use it for the personal benefits is over” said Kanzayire
“ You need to report any misuse of public funds “ she added
Most of the complaints received at the Office of the Ombudsman today on the first day of the campaign are wealth related as in other Districts.
The Office of the Ombudsman will cover all 18 sectors of Rusizi District and the following week the campaign will continue in Nyamasheke District.
