23rd September 2016, Today Ombudsman Cyanzayire Aloysie has hosted Sierra Leone Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hon. Maya Moiwo Kaikai and members of his delegation. Hon. Maya is in Rwanda since 19th September 2016 to learn from Rwanda’s Decentralisation Process and Local Economic Development.
In his remarks, Sierra Leone Minister commended Rwanda’s great economic transformation and Unit and reconciliation process after 1994 Genocide. Hon. Moiwo Kaikai added that they have chosen Rwanda because it is a good example since it went through a dark history as Sierra Leone and has emerged as a model to Africa in good governance and other major areas.
The Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Ombudsman explained the delegation the functioning of the Office of the Ombudsman. Reacting to the presentation, Hon. Maya congratulated the Ombudsman for Rwanda anti corruption success. “ Corruption is a complex crime but it became less complex to Rwanda because of the political will.”
The delegation was hosted by Ministry of Local government and visited among others Rwanda Governance Board, City of Kigali and Kigali Genocide Memorial where they laid a wreath for the victims of the Genocide.
