On 5th May 2013, the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council held its quarterly meeting at the Office of the Ombudsman. In that meeting chaired by the Chief Ombudsman Mrs. Cyanzayire Aloysie, participants discussed a number of issues related to corruption which include how to recover state stolen assets , the implementation of the whistleblower protection law and the establishment of the Sector Anti corruption Advisory Council.
After the meeting, members of the Anti Corruption National Advisory Council held a press conference and they presented the recommendations to journalists. The Chief Ombudsman, Cyanzayire Aloysie told journalists that a process of gathering necessary information that will be used to recover stolen assets will start as soon as possible .
The National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council was established in January 2009 basing on the resolutions of the 6th National Dialogue that took place on 18 th and 19th October 2008.The Objective of establishing the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council was to ensure that the anti-corruption institutions join together their efforts in fighting against corruption through exchange of information on corruption.
The National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council is composed of the Chief Ombudsman; Chair Person, the Minister of Local Government; Deputy Chair person, the Minister of Justice, the Vice President of the Supreme Court, two Deputy Ombudsman, Prosecutor General, Commissioner General of the Rwanda National Police and the Secretary General of National and Security Service.
