On 4th december 2013, the office of the ombudsman launched the anti corruption week in huye district which was the second district in the good competition organized by the Office of the ombudsman last year. The week will end on 9th December 2013 on the international anti corruption day. This year’s theme is corruption undermines rwandan values.
In her remarks, Honorable Minister in the president’s office Mrs Tugireyezu Venantie the guest of honor in the event informed that based on the corruption perception Index released on 3rd December 2013 Rwanda is the fourth least corrupt in Africa and the target is to become the first least corrupt in the world. She also added that the development that is not based on the culture is like building a house without a foundation. She also called upon Huye citizens to stick on rwandan values and fight against corruption.
In her remarks, the Chief Ombudsman Mrs. Cyanzayire Aloysie said that corruption causes the deprivation of the rights of the citizens especially when the local leaders are involved so that everyone should contribute to its fight.
The colorful event attracted many persons included but not limited to the Huye citizens, high ranked officials, representatives of non government institutions, representatives of faith based organizations, private sectors.
