The Office of the Ombudsman organized an anti corruption week from 29th November till 9th December 2014. During the week, different activities were executed among which a day dedicated to youth was organised.

Members of anti corruption clubs and District youth councils representatives were gathered at Nobleza Hotel where they debated on a topic: ’Unemployment, one of the causes of corruption in youth.".

During the debate there were proposers and opposers discussing. On one hand, proposers were focusing on the idea that unemployment in Rwanda may cause job seekers to pay bribe in order to get a job and any other form of corruption may also be used. They raised a problem of gender based corruption in youth where girls are most of the time vulnerable. On the other hand, the opposers said even though there is a problem of unemployment, youth have opportunities of promoting self employment and finding solutions to their problems instead of destructing their countries and integrity.

After discussions, they concluded by proposing some recommendations which will help to prevent and combat any form of corruption in youth. They committed to use the opportunities they have and create employment for themselves.
